Prove recognition first
Start in Standalone with the Factory Baseline. Make several fresh rolls and tune difficult personal dice before enabling automatic delivery.
Foundry VTT
- Install the current Joe's Real Rolls Foundry module and enable it in your World.
- Open Settings → Game Settings → Core Settings → Dice.
- Set Default Method to Joe's Real Rolls, then save and reload if prompted.
- In Joe's Real Rolls, open Integration → Foundry VTT Integration.
- Enter the connection information shown by the application and select Activate Foundry.
- Run the built-in test before game night.
Foundry remains responsible for modifiers, advantage or disadvantage, critical hits, chat cards, initiative, and compatible workflow automation. Review Unknown or uncertain values before sending.
Roll20
- Install the current Joe's Real Rolls extension in Chrome or Edge.
- Open your Roll20 game and the extension.
- Follow the guided connection steps shown by Joe's Real Rolls and the extension.
- Open Integration → Roll20 Integration and select Activate Roll20.
- Use the guided connection check to confirm the application, extension, and game are ready.
Keep the Roll20 game open while you play. Optional animated replays are available when sharing is ready; the reviewed numeric result still works if a replay is unavailable.
Discord
- Open Integration → Discord Integration.
- Select Install Discord Bot and add the official Joe's Real Rolls application to the intended server.
- Follow the guided in-app pairing steps for the Discord account that will submit roll requests.
- Optionally enter a message name and enable the short replay.
- Select Activate Discord.
- Request a supported roll with /jrr-roll, then roll and review it in Joe's Real Rolls.
Discord supports one dice term with an optional whole-number modifier and up to 20 dice, including requests such as d20, 2d6+3, or d100-5. Compound expressions, keep or advantage syntax, character-sheet automation, and private or GM-only requested rolls are not currently supported.
If a connection does not work
- Confirm the correct integration is active.
- Confirm Joe's Real Rolls and the related tabletop module, extension, or Discord application are running.
- Repeat the guided connection steps shown by the current application.
- Run the guided connection check.
- Return to Standalone and verify the same dice locally.
Integration troubleshooting
Always test the same dice in Standalone first. If Standalone is uncertain, correct the camera or recognition setup. If Standalone is correct but the tabletop receives nothing, focus on the integration.
General connection checklist
- Confirm the intended integration is active; only one can be active at a time.
- Confirm Joe's Real Rolls and the related game, module, extension, or Discord application are running.
- Follow the current guided connection flow shown by Joe's Real Rolls.
- Run the built-in connection check.
- Complete any Unknown roll with Accept Roll or Fix Roll; an unreviewed request may remain waiting.
Foundry remains waiting or sends no request
- Confirm the Joe's Real Rolls module is installed and enabled in the current World.
- Open Settings → Game Settings → Core Settings → Dice and confirm Joe's Real Rolls is the Default Method.
- Save and reload the World if Foundry requests it.
- Confirm the current connection information in Foundry matches the application.
- Run the built-in Foundry test before trying a character-sheet workflow.
Roll20 does not intercept a roll
- Confirm the extension is installed and enabled in Chrome or Edge.
- Keep the Roll20 game open and confirm the extension reports that it is ready.
- Open Roll20 Integration and run the guided connection check.
- If a character-sheet control changed or is unsupported, try a supported Roll20 chat roll.
- When reporting the problem, include the sheet name and the exact attack, damage, skill, or other control used.
Discord /jrr-roll does not appear
- Confirm the official Joe's Real Rolls application is installed in the correct server.
- Confirm application commands are allowed in the channel.
- Restart Discord or sign out and back in if its command list has not refreshed.
- Ask a server administrator for help when you cannot install applications in that server.
Discord says the account is not paired
Repeat the guided pairing flow with the same Discord account that will submit the roll request.
A Discord request does not reach the application
- Confirm Discord is the active integration and its status is ready.
- Confirm the computer is online and Joe's Real Rolls is still running.
- Roll the exact requested type and count.
- If the request expired, submit a new /jrr-roll request and complete it within the displayed time.
The roll is recognized but not delivered
Review every Unknown or uncertain die with Accept Roll or Fix Roll. The requested result is not returned until the physical roll is complete and reviewed.
An animated replay is missing
Confirm the replay option is enabled and the related upload status is ready. A reviewed numeric result can still be delivered when an optional replay is unavailable.
