HOW IT WORKS

From physical roll to virtual tabletop.

Physical dice recognition stays simple: Roll → Camera → Recognize → Confirm → Send. Use compatible dice you already own, with one or multiple dice recognized where supported.

Joe's Real Rolls live camera recognition view
The application watches the defined rolling area and presents the physical result for review.
01

Choose your dice

Select the Dice Set for the collection you want to use. Dice Sets keep recognition models and setup information organized for different sets. Start with the ready-to-use Factory Baseline, then replace it with your own trained model whenever your collection benefits from more personalized recognition.

02

Roll in view of the camera

A camera watches the defined rolling area. You still shake, throw and hear the same physical dice you would use around an in-person table.

Version 1.31.5 improves the Lighting Quality Assistant for colored rolling surfaces. It evaluates exposure, evenness, glare, image stability, and contrast with a representative die, so a well-lit colored tray is assessed by its actual camera conditions instead of being treated as unsuitable simply because of its surface color.

03

Recognition reads the result

Joe's Real Rolls identifies the visible dice and predicts their values. Personalized training can help the application learn visually distinctive dice in your collection. Version 1.31.5 lets you choose focused same-type multi-die training or guide a complete mixed set through natural full-set rolls.

04

Review when necessary

Compact graphical dice cards, confidence colors, and a clear total make one-die and multi-die results easy to review. Correct an uncertain value before it reaches the game.

05

Share the physical result online

The accepted roll is delivered into supported Foundry Virtual Tabletop, Roll20, or Discord experiences. One tabletop integration is active at a time, and you can switch when your party changes platforms. An optional focus handoff can bring Joe's Real Rolls forward for a requested roll and return you to the game after the result is sent.

No Bluetooth dice required

Because recognition is camera-based, the dice themselves do not contain electronics. There are no batteries in the dice to charge and no requirement to replace your existing collection with proprietary hardware.
